The fat years had passed, people had to cut their budgets. The soft sector was stopped, as were the wide legged trousers. Life became like business. The panelling was demolished, the brown and grey walls over-painted with white. The synthesizer made its appearance in pop music.

The women wore a perm, a blouse, a skirt or trousers. Unisex fashion: the woman and man wore the same clothes. The pants legs were tight again, and loud laughter was the seventies verdict.
